As a kid I always craved a 121 coach - someone who could directly impact my development as a player and allow me to see the areas I needed to improve - as well as sharpening my strengths. I also wished there could be some sort of manual to help improve all areas of my game for best performance.

Today I’m here writing this as an A licence coach, who’s worked at four great professional clubs in the UK right the way up to the premier league, and worked for national associations at the highest level. If you would have told me that leaving home at 18 for Southampton I would never have believed it! The Soccer Student has now been a learning portal available online for 12 years! I’m so proud it’s been able to help tens of thousands of players and coaches around the world in some form.

My hope here now is that this website can grow a worldwide community and give modern-day, cutting edge pointers for improvement from the professional game. I will be leaning on friends and colleagues to get some of these posts out there and build on the stories of 25 years experience in the game.
